Community Farmer Work-Share

This is a program where 10 community members will become an integral part of CGC’s farm team. Working alongside our experienced apprentices and farm manager, this will be a work-for-food type of program geared toward education -- not grunt-work. Once community team members attend an orientation class they will be requested to work ten hours per month in exchange for a basket of delicious, fresh, organic food! For more info, check out our Programming section

WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM (WEP)

The CGC is working with two groups of Work Experience Program (WEP) volunteers. The WEP is a program formed as a collaboration between The Ohio Association of Foodbanks and the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services in response to a federal mandate required of all SNAP (food assistance) recipients. The groups of WEP Volunteers that the CGC will be working with are (1) Able Bodied Adults without Dependents (ABAWD) and (2) ABAWDs aging out of the foster system. These individuals will be integrated into our Community Farm Team and will become integral partners in our work. Get more information here.

RECUPERATING THE SOCIAL BRAIN (RSB)

RSB works with Individuals who are currently recovering from brain/mind injury by encouraging them to take active part in their restorative processes, using non-traditional modes of healing. During the Recuperating the Social Brain process, the individuals, in partnership with a loved-one or family member, explore various facets of movement, mindfulness, social interaction, and deep contemplation that are present in methods of art interpretation, meditation, martial arts, and service learning. Get more information at their website.

SPROUTS Summer Camp

SPROUTS is a weekly summer camp from Mid-June to the end of August for local adolescents interested in getting their hands dirty! The summer camp will focus on gardening, the environment, healthy food and fun! Contact us for more information!

Columbus Tool Library Collaboration

The COLUMBUS GROWING COLLECTIVE is collaborating with the wonderful folks at Rebuilding Together Central Ohio’s Tool Library! This collaboration will allow CGC to access the Columbus Tool Library’s massive collection of tools to help make our farm great. In exchange for their kindness, we will be offering 5 free spots to our workshops for individuals who hold Columbus Tool Library Cards. For more information, check out the Rebuilding Together Tool Library.

Community Events

We will be holding regular community programming such as a film series, community potlucks, and ongoing cooking classes.

Do you have an idea for innovative programming, which we are not yet carrying out? Please email us if so. We would love to hear about it!!!
